Custom, Modular or Shell Scheme Stall: Which Is Right for Your Next Exhibition?

Compare custom, modular and shell scheme exhibition stalls in India. Understand cost, flexibility and brand impact before you book your space.

When you book space at an Indian trade show, one of the first decisions is the type of stall. Each option suits a different goal and budget.

Shell scheme (octanorm) stalls
This is the basic package provided by the organiser: aluminium framework, panels, fascia with your company name, basic lights and a few chairs.

Best for: first-time exhibitors, small budgets, testing a new market.
Limitation: every stall looks similar, so standing out depends heavily on graphics and your team.

Modular stands
Built from reusable systems such as aluminium frames, tension fabric graphics and lightboxes. They can be reconfigured for different stall sizes.

Best for: companies exhibiting at several shows a year who want a consistent look at lower long-term cost.
Limitation: less freedom for unusual shapes and architectural features.

Custom-built stands
Designed and fabricated specifically for your brand, product and space. Wood, metal, acrylic, fabric and lighting are combined to create a unique structure.

Best for: product launches, flagship shows, brands that need strong visual impact and space for meetings or demos.
Limitation: higher cost and longer lead time. Most materials are built for one use, although some elements can be designed for reuse.

How to decide
Ask yourself three questions:

  • What do we want visitors to do at the stall: see a product, try a demo, sit for a meeting?
  • How many shows will we do this year?
  • Is this show a flagship moment or a regular presence?

A hybrid approach
Many of our clients combine a modular base with custom elements such as a branded reception counter, feature wall or product display. This balances cost with impact and can be reused across shows.
